If you were at the 2006 Roast chances are you're somewhere in this picture. This is the second one I took and it's a lot less blurry than the first. As I say in my description, it's hard to stand steady when you've been drinking since 10am and be sure to click on all sizes so you can play "Where's Waldo". Also next year we may have to take the picture from the other angle (i.e. up-hill vs down hill; Thanks George!).

The real point of this post is to encourage you to upload your pictures to the OPR Flickr Group. I know I wasn't the only one who took a group pic, and it'd be nice to see how someone esle's pic came out. George and Melinda took some sweet black and white pics... real photo-journalist quality. Anyhoo... don't be afraid to share.

Yesterday I finally had a couple of hours to process all the pictures and video taken at the pig-roast. My pics have been uploaded to flickr... you can check em out here. I uploaded all the raw footage as well as a few edited pictures... cropped and touched up a bit using picasa. I also took about six videos, which I'll slowly release through youtube (setting up a you tube account is a quick and easy solution to upload video and add it to the blog through their embedded video players; the compression kinda hurts the video quality but at least it's free).

I had a great time at the roast... despite Jimmy's brand spanking new IPod getting stolen! If anyone was around the porch area late night and saw anything, knows anything, or took pictures on the dance floor let someone associated with the pig-roast know. Throwing the best party of the year is not worth it if some asshole feels the need to steal.

I know a lot of people were taking pictures all around the roast... so seriously if you see something strange, someone all alone on the porch... email the picture to ohiopigroast@yahoo.com... let's try and track down some info.

Otherwise, share your pictures and upload them to flickr then add them to the OPR group.

Happy summer one and all. Although the days get shorter from here on, things are not down hill ‘till next Sunday. Here we are nine days from the pig roast and I don’t know about everyone else, but I can’t focus at all on work. My garage is filling with supplies. The meat order is final. The kegs are ordered. And there is a buzz in any room containing two or more veterans. It’s a beautiful thing I tell you. Brad, Ed, and myself are doing all we can to set the stage for another great year. Now it is up to all of you to set the tone. So, start spreading the hype. Let’s show the blogosphere how the OPR does it. Start posting stories, wishes, dreams, and anything that will pump up the mood. It will be here before you know it. Let’s hit this year with a full head of steam.

The farm is lookin' good, just a little more THC, I mean TLC, and everything will be in fine shape for the greatest spectacle in drinking since the last time we ventured to Hocking county.

Ladies and Gents,

Happy Post-Memorial Day to you - Pig Roast V is on the
horizon! This will be much like Rocky V... Ok not
really. Tommy Gun only fight in the ring...

I know its hard to imagine that this will be the FIFTH
Pig Roast! We don't really remember the other four
specifically, They are more like: "That one where
everybody got naked", "The one where Gagne was MVP",
"the one where Freddy thought he heard a baby cry",
and "the one where Tom came home from Iraq, and then
his dog shit in his car." To be completely honest
with you, Those could all be the same one.

Anyhoo, We had our annual Kick-off meeting on Last
week and the purpose of this rant is to clue you in on
what's going on.

JULY 1st!!!!!!! Here come the emails (but my
girlfriends childhood babysitter is getting married

It's raining outside. They're calling for snow this weekend. And last saturday, when Nic was kicking my ass at bocci in our front yard, I had a pinin' for some swine. That's when it hit me -- we're on the down hill slide to this years roast. Because no matter what the groundhog living under my garage said about his shadow today The Roast is only six months away. So enjoy it as the days get longer, the tempurature gets hotter and the women start wearing less. Just in case you need a little motivation check out some archived postings. The '05 MVP is...

...NOBODY!!! After some in depth discussions, the founders have decided that there was no single person that warranted the crown of OPR MVP '05. Although this past year could have been possibly the best year ever, there was no stand-out performance. It is an honor to get this award and we felt it would cheapen past awards if one were issued out of necessity to fill a void. Allow me to explain the method to the madness. The MVP is someone who gives to the collective mood of the party without requiring an individual spotlight. This means an effort above and beyond the norm to bolster the "Legend of the OPR". It is not a competition to drink the most, stay up the longest, or get the most wasted. That alone will only make for good stories for the following year. A person being considered for the MVP may fit one of the above mentioned categories, but they must also bring a little extra something to the party. That something will be different for each person. Enjoy yourself, be yourself, and don't ever-ever-ever promote yourself and the '06 MVP could be yours. If someone is found to be campaigning for the award they will not be considered because they have lost sight of why the award is given. We founders give the MVP as thanks to one special roaster for helping us take the best party in the state to the next level. To MVP's past, Thank You; To MVP's future, we're watching!!; and to everyone else..........Keep the OPR spirit alive!! We'll see you all in July!

We've had two christmas parties here in the past week. The first was a Newcastle office only affair in a local tapas bar. It looks a bit shady - like camp x-ray or somewhere but was actually quite nice. Much good spanish food and many corona's were had.
Last friday the rest of the company came norht. We had a traditional christmas meal in 'The Baltic' art gallery on the banks of the newly regenerated river tyne....Elo knows it well. Click here to get to flickr

I've seen a few more people who've added their pictures to flickr. Now the next step is adding them to the group photo pool. This way your pictures will show up along side all the other pig roast pictures.

I've got a brief explanation below. Or you can click here for a flickr demo (check out number 3).

Flickr Organizer Help

Once your logged in, click on Organize. This opens up the organize too. From here click inside the left area on the load all pictures button. Then look in the right side and find the group tab. From here you will click on the opr group link to open it up. The you drag and drop your pictures into the OPR group.

My MVP vote

Well its been a couple of days and my brain cells have started to work again. This year's roast was everything I'd hoped it would be, and then some. I'm not sure who is deserving of my MVP vote yet, in fact I can't think of any real standouts this year. I do know that (as usual) my dog will get more votes than Nic and I combined. It's a sad thing when you realize that your dog is cooler than you. Atleast I can still claim to be the lush of the family. I guess if i had to pin it down, my vote would go to either 'other' Chuck for cracking the code on the cooler wagon friday night (it tastes so go when it hits your lips), or the unknown loud fuckers in tent city becasue they made me wake up in the middle of the night with my own little tent pitched. Anyway early congrats to whomever gets MVP, thanks to the founders and family members for rocking out and all the hard work.

It's two days before the roast and I can only compare this day to the 23rd of December.

T'was the eve of the eve and all through the town not a piggy was squealing not even the sow. The roasters were all nestled, tucked tight in their beds, with visions of hog legs and bacon in their heads. And Ed in his chef's hat and Seth manning the cooker we've just settled down to good evening of roastin'. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a 'Filed of Dreams' line of cars bringing roasters over here. And higher than reindeer the roasters they flew, an Ohio Pig Roast it must've been, I knew. So happy roasting to all, and to all get right.

Long story short we're all about to get f*cked up. So, call you're drinkin' liver out of the bull pen, lather up with some sun screen, and get ready to forget about seventy-two hours of your life.

Okay, so maybe it's not exactly to the hour. We have been drinking here this morning. David Michael Knight is in town and we had to kick it with Ed TV last night 'til about four in a.m. So my sense of time is out of wack. But the meat of this posting is about my excitement of over the closeness of hog roasting time. Team Evans officially sponsored their keg yesterday so I would expect to see the rest of you slack ass moochers do the same. Soon. Time is short and we're just one hump day away from a down hill slide toward total inebriation and anarchy, of the pig style. So get your livers ready, catch up on your sleep, and pray that Party Boy doesn't find your sorry ass hiding in some tent. He Will break you. Happy Hoggin' hope to see yah soon .

In case you haven't noticed I'm just a little excited about the whole fucking thing. I know we're getting close because it should be playoff hockey season and I've got 'oh Canada' stuck in my head. Except the words are more like 'pi-ig roast', and then I bust into some outrageous rhyme about swine and ham and buckets of butter for my corn. The whole national anthem from up there might have something to do with Canadian bacon? Then again it could just be residual bong hits lingering in my head from A-town. Either way it's way hot when I sing in the shower. Shit this thing is getting fucking close. I think I need a tissue...oh god...Oh, god...

Since the message board used by our website provider isn't exactly "user friendly" the founders thought this may be a better way for all Pig Roasters to let their voices be heard. Once you get used to the interfaces it's actually quite easy to Drop some blog.

Subject: Warm up, practice, training, whatever

To the Enlightened Few (a.k.a. the founding fathers),

Onward to this years participant update. Since my last e-mail I have ratcheted things up a notch. I have eaten some form of Bbq pork everyday for the last five days. One of those meals included bacon straight off the hog. Which has made me shat pure bbq sauces on more than one occasion. On the bright side; my shit smells better now. Mmmm bar bee que. The streak shall continue for as long as my colon allows. I can't afford to blow an O ring before the roast.

My bocce game is peaking as I raised my season average to a staggering 16-10 win/loss record with a dominating dismantling of Shaen and Jessica at Gilvertville. This intense training has caused me to suffer from a severe case of bocce elbow. Similar to limp dick; it's a degenerative muscle condition that causes one to spill his cocktail all over himself when he bends over to pick up a ball. Nickie's affliction has left her in a bed-ridden state on more than one occasion (insert your own joke her).

As many of you know my wife and I drag Senor Edwardo every year to a practice pig roast' dubbed by the hosts as Gilbertville. But this year as I feel my roasting training starting to peak a great and wonderful thing happened to me and Ed. Those Centerburgians who throw this summertime kick off have invited Ed and I to attend their pre-party party next year so that we can be the honorary killer and slaughter-er of their prized swine. I will get to pull the trigger and Ed gleefully volunteered to help clean the unclean beast. In years past these drunken farm boys have slit the pigs throat and shot it a number of different ways. This year the killer used a .45 with a hollow point bullet. They always have someone new commit
this lone act of violence. Seth I looking at you for suggestions. Regardless I and enthusiastically awaiting this ominous day for the pig community of Ohio. Chuck will get to play with guns. I think there was an ABC after school special of the same name.
